ūüĆąūüĆą Remembering Grandfather Black Elk: August 19, 1950

ūüĆąūüĆą Remembering Grandfather Black Elk:¬†Holy Man of the Oglala Sioux,
d. August 19, 1950
“There can never be peace between nations, until there is first known, that true peace that is within the Souls of people.‚ÄĚ
** “I cured with the power that came through me. Of course, it was not I who cured, it was the power from the Outer World, the visions and the ceremonies had only made me like a hole through which the power could come to the two-leggeds. And when I breathed, my breath was lightning.
‚ÄúWhenever I cured, if I thought that I was doing it myself, the hole would close up and no power could come through. Then everything I would try to do would be foolish.”
Earth Prayer, Black Elk
Grandfather, Great Spirit, once more behold me on earth and lean to hear my feeble voice. You lived first, and you are older than all need, older than all prayer. All things belong to you — the two-legged, the four-legged, the wings of the air, and all green things that live.
You have set the powers of the four quarters of the earth to cross each other. You have made me cross the good road and road of difficulties, and where they cross, the place is holy. Day in, day out, forevermore, you are the life of things.
Hey! Lean to hear my feeble voice.
At the center of the sacred hoop
You have said that I should make the tree to bloom.
With tears running, O Great Spirit, my Grandfather,
With running eyes I must say
The tree has never bloomed.
Here I stand, and the tree is withered.
Again, I recall the great vision you gave me.
It may be that some little root of the sacred tree still lives.
Nourish it then
That it may leaf
And bloom
And fill with singing birds!
Hear me, that the people may once again
Find the good road
And the shielding tree.
‚ÄĒ Grandfather Black Elk
Black Elk was born December 1, 1863, Powder River, MT, and died, August 19,1950, on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, SD ‚ÄĒ Children: Lucy Looks Twice, Benjamin John
Katie War Bonnet was his first wife (m. 1892‚Äď1903)
Anna Brings White was his second wife‚Ķ. (m. 1905‚Äď1941)

In his Great Vision he saw ‚Äúthe Thunder Beings” and was taken to the Grandfathers, who represented the Six Sacred Directions ‚ÄĒ West, East, North, South, Above, and Below. The Grandfathers took Black Elk to the Center of the Earth, the central mountain of the world, the axis of the Six Sacred Directions, the point where stillness and movement are together.‚ÄĚ Harney Peak, where Black Elk is seen in this photo, is called Hinhan Kaga by the Lakota Sioux, it is the highest natural point in South Dakota, and the Black Hills. Planting and Growing A Garden of Light

Planting and Growing A Garden of Light

It is the sum total of all of Humanity’s actions and thoughts that brings into being, whatsoever light or darkness there is. Thus the maximum Harmony and Beauty that the Earth Plane receives depends on each one of us.

We are not expected to individually create peace on Earth. Rather each of us is continuously offered the possibility of keeping our own garden filled with Harmony, and daily watered with Love and Beauty.

Everyone has a garden under their care and responsibility. Some have large gardens, while others have gardens that are small. The size of one’s garden represents each one’s capacity and limitations.

Our personal garden consists of every step that we take, and every thought that we make from the moment we open our eyes until we open them again the next morning.¬† And, just as we appreciate walking by a beautiful garden, and recognize those that have been left unattended or are filled with weeds and trash, ¬†we mostly fail to notice our responsibility ‚Äď to fill our ‚Äėgarden‚Äô with ¬†light through¬†diligently working to bring Love-Light to each one we meet throughout our days.

If we  find our days filled with darkness and gloom, we can begin each day with a promise to plant seeds of happiness, by offering our smiles, warm words, and acts of caring, to those we find in our garden each day.

If stubborn weeds have grown, prayer and apologies cleanse and refresh the ground of our consciousness — and the¬†hearts of our family and friends. In this way even the¬†most overgrown and neglected gardens become places where children and adults like to visit and take rest, and one by one the world will be graced with beauty.

The Garden of Eden Still Exists

The Garden of Eden Still Exists
Love, the essence of goodness, the primal element of the Most Holy, is indelibly imprinted upon each and every heart.
The Divine Essence of Love exists within all life. Knowledge of this depth and presence of Love is what each prophet and poet is called upon to bring to humanity, and what every Soul hopes to attain. And no matter the path, Beauty is what each Soul knows to be the rock bottom foundation‚ÄĒupon which Love, and all that exists, rests:

Our search for the Essence of Love
might begin one morning
while looking at Reality as a Sacred,
Holy Mirror,

anticipating‚ÄĒthat at any moment¬†
Beauty will appear!

Carrying this thought as a seed,
letting it permeate our core

we drink in the glowing sunrise,
while a sweet scent of honeysuckle
fills the air.

Our shining heart-light illuminates
our being,

and anything our glowing eyes
chance to rest upon‚ÄĒ¬†

becomes as Beauty-filled as we
are able to perceive.

A sudden spark of Inspiration
brings us to tears‚ÄĒ

‚ÄėThe Garden of Eden still exists¬†
right here on Earth,

whenever we, Her stewards,
are able to stand as Witness.’

One Creator, One Breath

One Creator, One Breath

Even though we may desire, or claim ownership of portions of Earth, absolute ownership, and a clear title, always remain in the Hands of the Most High.

Today not only portions of the Earth, but water, plants, animals, and even¬†tiny cells may be bought and sold, patented and privately owned. Yet, there is¬†one thing that belongs to all beings equally: One thing that¬†everyone freely¬†takes, and freely gives to others‚ÄĒour breath‚ÄĒ

Our breath we cannot live without,
breath we take, breath we give‚ÄĒ

freely received, freely returned
all day, and all night long
all Being, all life breathes.

And all who draw breath
never think of keeping it

hold no thought of hoarding it,

feel no Inner urge to grab
another‚Äôs share‚ÄĒ

but simply enjoy the Gift.

For we all know without a doubt
that the air we breathe belongs,

as the whole Earth in truth belongs‚ÄĒ¬†
not to us

but the Source of All, the All-in-All,
Who eternally creates this Earth

and the Universe,
and all who draw breath therein.

Given to All Paths, All Ways

Given to All Paths All Ways

Throughout all epochs all spheres,
looking with the eyes of now
at the ending of our current era

those who can See and Hear,
and understand,

will not fail to bow down
to the Creator of All

as we peer into the Mirror of the Ages,
and grasp the enormity of the One Divine Message,

that forever has been given to each nation,
throughout all lands and times.

Before advancement of communication
a Message yet arrived, through Messengers
that looked like their people,

in the language of each society,
with images familiar to all.

It is a simple Message, of Love and of Truth
that all were asked to¬†follow‚ÄĒ

Love one another.
Do unto others as you would have
Others do unto you.

Do Justice.
Respect and care for the Earth.

And daily give thanks, to the Creator of All.

One Message that echoes in all hearts;
One code of honor, given to all.

May the Divine Message of Love and Harmony
lead our Spirits and hearts to unite in peace.

And may we awaken and follow this Call,
from the Creator of All.

Rising Up-On Our Highest Ideals

Rising Up-On Our Highest Ideals
How and why do we fall down? We fall down when we fall beneath our Ideals.

Life is about being the best we can be. Each person has their own Ideals, and knowingly or not they try to achieve them each moment of each day of their lives.
Whenever we¬†fall beneath these Ideals, we suffer. Sometimes our¬†fall is very little, and we hardly take notice. Yet at other times the pain we¬†experience can be so very great, we wonder if¬†we are ever going to rise¬†again‚ÄĒif we will find the Inner strength to attempt a new mount.¬†

When a¬†child falls down, be that a physical or an ego fall, they look to their¬†caregivers to help them find the courage to get up, to move on to the next¬†thing, to smile again.¬†Yet when adults fall down, where is the¬†Compassionate One to help them? A question may arise, “Have I been¬†left alone, to look toward an empty sky, hoping or praying for¬†comfort¬†from the Most High‚ÄĒin vain?”

As a child finds the arms of their beloveds

to comfort them,

the Most High manifests for adults
within the eyes, and open Hearts,
of those right in their midst;

Or leads them to find someone to turn to
for solace, forgiveness,
or a reason to continue.

Thus the Dearest One draws near
helping us to find
and climb

onto the rock
of our Highest Ideals.

Awakening

Awakening

A Prayer

Help us and Guide us to undo
the harm we have caused the Earth, and Her Beings,
throughout our thoughtless, careless youth.

There is a vast difference in the viewpoint and actions of those who believe that the Most High is Ever Present in their daily lives, and those to whom the Divine remains a distant concept, existing somewhere far beyond this life, if He or She exists at all.

The constant realization of the Creator of All as a Living Presence throughout our days, encouraged the ancient peoples to hold in reverence the whole of the Earth, and to carefully examine each word, thought and action.

In this Blessing Way of Remembrance, throughout their days and nights, ancient ones consciously experienced in wonderment, the inexpressible beauty, exquisite tenderness, and awesome power of Nature.

Comparing this profound level of Being, with that of our modern society, we can easily see the reason behind the thoughtless acts of destruction and harm, so casually inflicted on a daily basis to the Natural World:

The vibrations of our ancestors’ Beings moved in peaceful attunement with the world of Nature.

Seeking harmony with the Sacred, Hallowed Earth, they consciously breathed the sweetness of rain-freshened air,
and gratefully drank Her living waters, while frequently pausing to pray to live, as a respectful guest.

When the Heart Becomes Open In Prayer

When the Heart Becomes Open In Prayer

All prayers which are heart-filled, emerge and arrive on wings of Light, into the Holy Realms, and the Ears of the Most High.

During unobstructed Prayer-Union,
with-in the Supreme dimension of Love and Light,

Divine Blessings are showered
upon the pure of heart.

Yet the moment one’s mind,
responding from a limited perspective
and filled with worldly knowledge,

begins to analyze the gift…

the translucent, shimmering state
of Holiness disappears‚ÄĒ

retracts behind the vibrational curtain
of the physical reality,

that forever separates this Earthly Realm,
from the Eternal Garden
of Beauty, Truth, and Love.

The Healing Balm of Love

The Healing Balm of Love
According to the ancient Wisdom tradition of the Japanese and Chinese Five Element Theory, Joy and Love are the positive qualities of the Heart, while sorrow and bitterness are it’s negative aspects. For the Sage this is most valuable knowledge, as one seeks to help and to soften, to warm and to melt, the frozen coverings that have formed over the tender fabric of the Heart.

Depending on the severity of one’s life experiences, the delicate fabric that surrounds our heart becomes injured. In some cases this damage can be intuited by a Healer to be delicate scars that mar the surface, but leave the heart still soft and supple. These tiny scars are much like the ones we carry on our physical bodies after small injuries. They serve as reminders of the injury, yet they mostly do not impede our functioning in the world. In other cases, larger scars arise from deeper woundings, yet still one’s heart remains open to Love and trust.

However there are some life experiences so deep and ongoing, that they cause the tender heart to become surrounded with a thick covering, similar to a callous that forms upon ones hand or foot. This thick covering is created by a strong need, to keep one‚Äôs Innermost Being ‘safe’, impenetrable from further harm.

A calloused Heart is thus defended against both real and perceived attacks, by a storehouse of bitterness and anger, which serve to keep others at a safe distance. And yet, the calloused heart also keeps beauty and love from being fully experienced, because one’s tenderness and softness of heart lie buried somewhere deep within. Thus one exists alone with one’s pain.

Yet, just as in fairy tales, someone often arrives to help, in the form of a Lover or Friend who has just the perfect salve for healing a wounded Heart. This most delicious remedy is of course nothing by love, which leads to a gradual softening and healing of the subtle and deep lines and scars.

This miracle salve works by causing a bubbling forth of outbursts of Joy, as the tender and repeated applications of love are carefully applied, by one who has been especially Chosen, for the task at Hand.

Our Trials

Our Trials

The Beloved Warriors of the Most High must become adept swimmers in the whole of the ocean. Their tests are great; their lives and journeys an open book. All wit- ness their purification, and their trials by fire.

We are shown the tremendous difficulties the Masters, Saints and Prophets of each Sacred path have had to endure, as they were becoming great leaders of their people. We are then shown their life purpose, and their experiences with the Most High. Mostly we tend to forget their enormous difficulties and trials, or to minimize them, as we become blinded by their Light. Yet, their rites of passage are not a footnote to their success, but an integral part of what made these Lovers of Truth change from the ordinary people they were, into the Divine Beings they became‚ÄĒ

Siddhartha, the Buddha, went into the world
and experienced the suffering of the common people,
as he wandered for a time alone.

Abraham was tried by¬†fire‚ÄĒtested
with the willing sacrifice of his son, Isaac

Sarah, whose name was first Yiscah, Seer, and then Sarai, One
Who Commands, was Priestess to the Goddess,
yet according to her destiny she became a wife to Abraham,
as the world she knew disappeared.

Moses struggled with who and what he was:
leaving his high rank as Pharaoh’s son,
he experienced the lowest place in his world.

Jesus had to sacrifice his own life for his Calling.

The Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh, Mother Teresa,
and many other Saints and Prophets,
yielded their place of comfort,
became stripped to their foundations,
before attaining their zeniths.

For the darkness exists and the Light exists,
and all must pass through trials of darkness
on their way to the Light.

And though they be great or small, our difficulties
become the foundation upon which all must climb,
in order to attain Union, with the Most Supreme.
